‘Raise the Roof’ – Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk (For the National Trust)
Anna led the research workstream for this £6.5m NHLF-funded conservation project at Oxburgh Hall (built in 1482).
With the roof removed for major repairs, she procured and managed specialist research —including a Conservation Management Plan, building recording, paint and wallpaper analysis, and underfloor archaeology—maximising this rare chance to investigate the bones of the building.
Combined with her own extensive documentary research, the work generated significant new insights into the building’s architectural, decorative and social history. Hundreds of Tudor and Elizabethan artefacts uncovered under the attic floors gained national and international attention, and Anna’s talks, articles and media work helped share these discoveries with a wide audience.
